Job Description:
This position will be responsible for maintaining the state mandated cancer registry for MMH. Lead an interdisciplinary team and coordinate Tumor Board Physician Reviews, and other related activities as deemed necessary. Responsible for collaborating with hospital departments and outside agencies involved in the care of oncology patients.
SHIFT AND SCHEDULE
Full Time: M-F 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
l Coordinating Tumor Board meetings and related activities.
l Abstracting and entering patient data into the state cancer registry system and generating reports as required.
l Responsible for maintaining the registry including verifying and updating all information that is abstracted.
l Work collaboratively with agencies involved in oncology patient care or resource services.
l Maintain all Tumor Board minutes, files and reports, including CME/CNE documentation.
l Assist in developing performance improvement initiatives, studies and reporting on the outcomes.
l Assists with community events for cancer awareness or prevention standards.
l Provide in services/educational sessions for RHIT students and other interested parties.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
l Must be a minimum of high school graduate or equivalent.
l Certified Tumor Registrar preferred.
l Must have a strong knowledge and understanding of medical terminology, basic human anatomy and physiology concepts, ICD-10 coding.
l Must possess basic secretarial and clerical skills. Must be able to type accurately, with minimal errors. Must possess a working knowledge of other common office equipment, including, but not limited to, 10 key calculators, photocopiers, fax machines, tape recorders and personal computers (including Office, Excel, Outlook and Power Point.)
l Must be willing to attend continuing education events or conferences to maintain evidence-based knowledge of cancer care.

l Stand, walk, sit, stoop, reach, lift, speak and hear. Lifting is limited to 35 lbs. for clinical staff and to 50 lbs. for non-clinical staff. The individual must use an assisted-lift device or get another individual(s) to assist with the lift that is over these maximum
limits.

l No supervisory requirements.
