Full-time Medical Biller/Coder

We are looking for an organized and experienced medical biller to join our organization. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in billing software and medical insurance regulations. The medical biller will also be responsible for maintaining patient confidentiality, handling personal information, and accurately inputting patient data into the system.

Medical Biller/Coder Duties and Responsibilities include:

• Ensure patient information is accurate and complete
• Request any missing patient information
• Submit insurance record requests
• Confirm patient’s benefits and insurance eligibility
• Follow all regulations and guidelines set by Medicare, state programs and HMO/PPO
• Knowledge of medical coding guidelines – preferably ophthalmology
• Arrange payment plans and timelines for payments
• Maintain organized documentation of all billing records
• Follow set billing processes and procedures
• Update and review all accounts to keep records of payments up-to-date
• Work with personal information and maintain patient confidentiality

• Procedure precertification and authorization
• Run, review and mail monthly patient statements
• Enroll patients in copay assistance programs
• Answer billing questions both in person and over the phone
• Assist front desk as needed – check patients out and phone calls

Medical Biller/Coder Requirements and Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree in accounting, health care administration, financial, business or related field preferred
• Two (2) years previous experience as a medical biller and/or coder
• Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
• Self-motivated and self-directed, able to work without supervision
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Proficient computer skills, Microsoft Office Suite
• Working knowledge of billing software; AdvancedMD experience a plus
• Strong customer service skills and comfortable answering both patient and insurance company questions
• Able to analyze problems and strategize for better solutions

Pay: $18.00 – $23.00 per hour
