The Employee Relations Senior Manager acts as a subject matter expert and resource in partnering with key stakeholders on complex employee relations issues to ensure the uniform and equitable application of policies and procedures. Develops, recommends, and implements approved firm-wide employee relations strategies, policies, and practices. Areas of focus include performance management and corrective actions, investigations, pre-employment background checks escalation, reductions in force, accommodations, and matters related to escalated leave of absence/workers’ compensation return to work issues. This role also serves as the firm’s subject matter expert on employer sponsored immigration matters.

Responsibilities:

• Establish governance around Employee Relations matters, inclusive of governing processes and applicable supporting tools
• Provide guidance and knowledge of human resources technical, legal, and regulatory environments, and develops, recommends, and implements approved firm-wide employee relations policies and practices
• Provide consultation to firm leadership, business units and human resources generalists/specialists on complex employee relations issues to ensure the uniform and equitable application of policies and procedures
• Advise business unit leadership and human resources generalists/specialists on performance management and corrective actions which may result in disciplinary measures or termination
• Collaborate with human resources generalists/specialists and the firm’s leave of absence function to resolve complex leave, workers’ compensation, and accommodation matters
• Investigate escalated employee complaints and resolves grievances and conflicts in collaboration with firm leadership and human resources generalists/specialists
• Oversee the firm’s background investigation process to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, and to adjudicate adverse findings
• Manage resolution of escalated issues for the firm’s Form I-9 process to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements
• Act an escalation point for the employer sponsored immigration matters between management and employees, and external legal resources
• Maintain relationships with internal and external legal resources for the firm’s employment law and immigration consultation needs
• Own continuous education for the wider People Team leaders on ER concepts, pattern recognition, anticipation, and monitoring

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required; emphasis in an HR or related field preferred
• Minimum of 10 years of HR generalist or related experience in a complex organization required; including demonstrated involvement with building and leading high-performing teams and fostering an inclusive culture; experience in public accounting or professional services environment preferred
• Comprehensive knowledge of employee relations concepts, practices, laws, and regulations
• Demonstrated ability to engage in critical thinking by using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems
• Ability to collaborate and work effectively across functions/departments/teams while building trusted relationships and positively influencing others
• Skilled at active listening; and uses strong negotiation skills in resolving conflicts, managing complaints, and settling disputes
• Strong executive presence and demonstrated leadership skills, good judgment, and ability to effectively interface with employees and leaders at all levels
• Strong organizational skills; able to effectively prioritize assignments and competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to handle confidential material and sensitive situations in a reliable manner
• Familiarity with immigration matters related to employment-based work authorization
• Ability to travel as needed, approximately 5%
