Nahjtech is seeking DWDM and Optical commissioners on a contracting basis to work on a number of projects across our client base in Texas.

The role requires a good solid knowledge of DWDM and Optical network builds across various OEM’s.

Requirements and Expectations:

• The main role of an Optical-commissioning engineer is to perform commissioning activities on different types of transmission equipment to customer specifications.
• Support each client with their field based operational activities relating to the installation and commissioning of new active and passive SDH/XWDM transmission equipment nationwide.
• Balancing of XWDM systems.
• Provide an effective and professional interface between the direct client and any related service providers.
• The engineer is expected to liaise with customers on technical issues and other problems, which may arise on site. The engineer is also be expected to liaise with Customer Network Operations Centres (NOC) and provide on-site technical support.
• The engineer will be expected to work in his field of expertise without supervision
• The role will involve stand-alone testing, link testing, ring testing and integration into network management platforms via DCN and DCC.
• The engineer needs to keep the project manager informed of all issues and be aware of the escalation procedures used within the department.
• Ensure all site activities are completed successfully whilst maintaining a high grade of quality, service and customer focus.

Principal Responsibilities

• Commission and integration of vendor equipment into the existing customer network.
• Liaise with the client at a site level where applicable ensuring Nahjtech delivery team are kept fully up to date.
• Police all work activities and ensure all procedures are carried out in accordance with the associated site operational documentation and commissioning test specifications
• Ensure, Quality, Health and Safety procedures / Environmental requirements are adhered to at all times.
• Build strong client relationships to ensure control and allow rapid development of change
• Ensure that Nahjtech provides and delivers the highest level of performance, quality and satisfaction to its clients.

Skills required

• Degree in Telecommunication field preferable – or related fields.
• Experience in at least one of the following manufacturers equipment, Ericsson, Huawei, Transmode, Alcatel-Lucent, Infinera and Ciena would be an advantage.
• Sound understanding and working knowledge of transmission network fundamentals and principles, PDH, SDH, Ethernet, IP and XWDM would be an advantage.
• Understanding of SDH/SONET/OTN Hierarchies.
• Understanding of active & passive equipment within a Network Experienced with the use of fibre testing equipment, e.g. OPM, OLS, etc.
• Experienced with the testing of Transmission Networks and the required testing equipment, e.g. OSA, OTDR etc.
• Systems level trouble shooting on fiber optic telecommunications transmission equipment.
• The jobholder will build and develop strong working relationships, both internally and externally.
• Must have excellent PC Skills.
