Job Summary
The Director of Student Accountability and Advocacy helps provide direct support to and serves as a non-clinical case manager and support role for students in crisis, on-going student outreach from the CARE (Consultation, Assessment, Referral, and Education) team, and assists with coordination of administrative case management for student of concern situations. The Director of Student Accountability and Advocacy is a strategic campus partner and thought leader in the support, advocacy and engagement of students, their families, faculty, and staff and will assist in identifying barriers to student success and helping to refer students to resources, both internal and external, that prioritize student well-being, student self-agency, safety, and overall student persistence.
The Director of Student Accountability and Advocacy is also responsible for the administration of Naropa’s student accountability processes which can include supporting other conduct officers, conducting investigations to adjudicate student misconduct, and related trainings and education for the campus community. This role will work to support and foster a university culture that promotes self-reflection, personal accountability, and integrity. In collaboration with the Dean of Students Office, Division of Mission, Culture, and Inclusive Community, and CARE team, the Director will support intervention needs and addressing behavioral concerns with a restorative and JEDI (Justice, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion) focused lens. The Director of Student Accountability and Advocacy supports Naropa’s Title IX Coordinator as a named Deputy Title IX Coordinator and in collaboration with the Title IX Coordinator supports university-wide investigation, programing, and on-going training.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Master’s degree in counseling, student development, social work, or an adjacent area.
• At least three (3) years of related professional experience (i.e., experience in handling student conduct cases, grievances, restorative justice work, student support or social work adjacent case management and/or conducting internal investigations).
• Knowledge of current state and federal law and regulations, identified proven practices and trends in the field of education related to student support/accountability, case management, harassment, and other discriminatory practices that violate Title IX or other state and federal laws.
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Strong professional writing and documentation skills.
• Ability to build relationships and balance the multiple, varying, and even conflicting interests of diverse stakeholders around potentially challenging, divisive, or charged topics and information.
• Demonstrated understanding of the dynamics of privilege and oppression and the impact these have on equity, access, and opportunity in higher education/the workplace.
• Willingness to co-create an inclusive community and actively participate in related professional development, including openness to feedback and on-going self-examination.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Demonstrated ability and experience with student conduct and/or non-clinical case management within higher education with an understanding of trauma informed care.
• Knowledge of promising practices for student conduct/accountability and applicable state and national laws governing student rights/responsibilities, Title IX, VAWA, Campus SaVE, amongst others.
• Experience as a student conduct officer, social worker, or adjacent role/experience.
• Experience creating and supporting safety and behavioral intervention plans or learning agreements.
• Experience facilitating restorative conversations, circles, practices and/or programs.
• Experience designing and implementing restorative practices and/or programs.
• Experience working with and management of, Maxient records database.
• Experience with sexual violence prevention efforts.

Employees who work fewer than 20 hours per week are eligible to participate in Naropa’s retirement plan only, which includes up to 2.5% employer matching.
All regular full-time and part-time faculty and staff, including student workers, accrue sick leave benefits.
Full-time and part-time staff positions accrue vacation and personal time. All leave accrual rates vary based on the position, hours worked, and years of service.
