The NYU School of Professional Studies seeks a Clinical (Assistant/Associate) Professor of Hospitality Social Enterprising and Engagement
for the Jonathan M. Tisch Center of Hospitality, effective in Fall 2024. (The rank of the position will be determined based on the
candidate’s experience and qualifications.)
The Tisch Center is actively seeking a distinguished professional for the role of
Hospitality Faculty with a specialization in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DE&I). The ideal candidate will bring a wealth of over
two decades of experience in both hospitality operations and academic leadership, with demonstrated achievements in DE&I in hospitality.
The candidate will have a demonstrated record of accomplishment in managing the hospitalityoperations and working with diverse teams of
professionals. Previous managerial and leadership experience with premium hospitality brands is highly desirable. The ideal candidate will
have experience with non-profit organizations, working with high schools and HBCUs. The candidate will also bring a network of senior
hospitality executives, including heads of DE&I and CHRO of large hotel groups.
In the academic realm, the candidate should have
held full-time faculty appointments and service/administrative positions in DE&I, with experience teaching diverse populations of
students and navigating complex legislative environments. They should possess a Master’s degree, with coursework completed towards a Ph.D.
in a related field at minimum, or hold an ABD status.
Reporting to the Associate Dean of the Tisch Center, the successful candidate
will work closely with the Academic Directors to implement the vision for expanding the apprenticeship program, and to increase the Tisch
Center’s leadership in hospitality DE&I, and profile and visibility locally, nationally and internationally. In this role, the
successful candidate will be responsible for the following, including, but not limited to:
This full-time position is a
nine-month appointment with a two-year renewable faculty contract.
In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the
annual base salary range for this position is $100,000 – $150,000. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the
scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key professional skills, internal
peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
Qualifications:
The
ideal candidate will (i) hold an advanced degree (Master degree), preferably in DE&I-related field; (ii) have a significant industry and
academic track record; (iii) have at least ten years of academic experience and effectiveness in higher education, (iv) have experience
working with or teaching diverse student populations (v) have at least 8 years of work experience in hospitality operations. Candidates
should provide evidence of initiative in curricular development, demonstrate an ability or potential ability to engage in meaningful service
or administrative work, and supply evidence of promise in scholarly work.
