We seek an Employee Relations Manager to manage and develop employee relations for our restaurant company. This is a lead role in the HR team, supporting and coaching the group of managers and generalists in the department. The Employee Relations Manager will work directly with the Director of Human Resources, General Counsel, and Operations.
Employee Relations Manager Qualifications:
- Hospitality and Restaurant field: REQUIRED
- Polished, upbeat, positive, patient, and professional attitude
- Bachelor’s degree – preferably in a relevant field
- Four years of professional human resource experience, including two years in employee relations: preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of HR Generalist experience, including two years in employee relations: preferred
- Minimum of 3 years of management/ supervisory experience
- Able to manage investigations
- Ability to train the operations management members in employee relations practices and strategies for managing performance issues, ensuring a positive work environment, and developing new training as needed
- The ability to communicate effectively with senior management on status, results, and challenges
- The ability to create policy effectively
- Solid data analysis acumen in surveys, interviews, and other studies regarding human resource policies, compensation, and other employment issues
- The ability, wherewithal, and professional curiosity to stay current with laws and legal affairs concerning employment to managers, supervisors, and employees
- Investigates Federal or State agency charges, prepares a position statement to the Director of HR, and collaborates with legal counsel to prepare for negotiations
- The ability to collaborate with the benefits team in managing the ADA interactive process
- The willingness to participate meaningfully in main office positions’ interviewing and onboarding process
- The ability to maintain employee personnel files and I-9s for main office
- The ability to remain tactful, calm, and persuasive
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information ethically and professionally
- Thorough understanding of state and federal laws concerning labor relations
- HR certified (PHR or SPHR) preferred
