Novarc Technologies is looking for an HR Generalist with a strong benefits admin background to join our growing team.
Position Overview:
The HR Generalist is an integral part of the Novarc team who reports to the Vice President of Human Resources. We are looking for a well versed professional who can streamline and support the HR team on a wide range of tasks such as benefit administration for our US and Canadian offices (4 offices), safety compliance, policy development, training, employee relations, relocations and visa support, DEI initiatives, employee training and education, recruiting, and other HR programs and initiatives. Additionally, the HR Generalist will provide resolutions and consulting in the above areas to ensure profitable business operations, and will support our Houston office with office admin and social activities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Benefit Administration for the US & Canada:
Manage employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
Enroll new employees in the appropriate benefits programs and educate employees on benefit plan during onboarding.
Maintain accurate employee records, benefit coverage, and other relevant information.
Onboarding & Offboarding of employees for the US, Canada, Australia, and the UK:
Provide a smooth onboarding experience for all new employees (remote & onsite), including orientation, and providing HR systems training.
Assist managers with creating 30-60-90 day plans, and scheduling new employee training and check-ins.
Ensure a smooth offboarding including communicating with IT, and offboarding employees from benefits platforms and payroll; conducting exit interviews and providing data and recommendations to the and management HR team.
Other HR responsibilities :
Facilitate & participate in employee engagement activities, including team building exercises, corporate social responsibility, employee recognition, and company events.
Contribute to positive employee relations by actively listening and appropriately responding to employee issues, concerns, and feedback in a timely manner.
Conduct workplace investigations, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with applicable legislation.
Assist with Policy creation and clearly communicate and consistently administer HR policies & practices.
Assist managers in assigned region with:
Annual Org Planning
Performance Management
Health & Safety issues: local point of contact for incidents/accidents/injuries.
Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Office Administration:
Act as the first point of contact for landlord and building manager for the Houston office
Ensure offices is fully stocked with supplies (kitchen, office, cleaning)
Act as the first point of contact for office related vendors (janitorial services, etc.)
Organize and execute special events for the Houston office: team building events, annual holiday party, government and client visits.
NDA processing; filling, and record keeping.
Handling incoming and outgoing mail and packages.
Knowledge, skills and abilities :
Minimum 3 years of experience as a Benefit Administrator. US benefit admin experience a requirement; Canadian experience an asset.
5+ years of HR Generalist experience.
Bachelor of Business Administration, Bachelor of Commerce, or equivalent.
Excellent communication skills including verbal, written, and interpersonal are required; comfortable training and presenting material to all levels of the organization.
Positive disposition and outgoing personality
Ability to compartmentalize information and maintain strict confidentiality
Self-directed and possesses a high level of productivity and personal organization while dealing with frequent interruptions
Plans and organizes tasks & work responsibilities to achieve goals and objectives while remaining calm & professional under pressure
Strong computer literacy; experience with Google Suite and ADP a strong asset
Travel: some travel to the Canadian offices may be required from time-to-time (less than 5%)
