Olivet College announces its search for a provost. Reporting directly to the president, the provost is the executive officer second in line of responsibility to the president and acts on behalf of the president in their absence. As such, the provost provides visionary senior executive leadership for the College, in particular for all aspects of academic affairs and the student experience, working directly with the president and in collaboration with senior leaders to develop and achieve the College’s strategic vision and goals. This includes identifying strategic actions and ensuring resource alignment for goal achievement.
As chief academic officer, responsibilities focus on developing a clear vision and leading a cohesive team across the academic affairs and student engagement units with an emphasis on academic program innovation and increasing measures of academic quality, student success and college reputation in undergraduate, graduate, adult professional and alternative credential programs.
The provost serves as the senior liaison for academic and student engagement matters to internal and external constituencies; has significant responsibility for developing formal partnerships and collaborations with other institutions and organizations for the achievement of strategic goals; and seeks external grant funding and collaborates with the advancement team in support of fundraising for academic and student engagement goals.
The provost has three direct reports: the associate provost and dean of the College; the associate provost for student development; and the executive assistant for academic affairs.
