The Engineering Lead supervises, mentors and develops a team of engineers, developers, business system analyst and technical writers focused on development, design and integration of various software systems, databases, and third-party packages utilizing Java full stack technologies. The Engineering Lead partners with internal stakeholders to understand the business and technology landscape of the company for internal and external systems including Inventory, Supply Chain, eCommerce, Retail Applications, Enterprise Search and more. They lead project planning, requirements gathering, establishing priorities, delegating development, and supporting software applications.
Essential Job Functions
· Lead, develop, coach and mentor a team of developers and analysts including performance management, goal setting, hiring, evaluations and disciplinary actions.
· Identify team member development and training needs and ensure training needs are met.
· Ensures team member compliance with company policies and procedures, including but not limited to, Data Integrity, Software Development Methodology, and Project Tracking.
· Oversees the project implementation of strategically complex and enterprise-wide application solutions.
· Provides leadership in software development life cycle management (e.g., analyses, technical requirements, design, coding, testing, implementation of systems and applications software, etc.) to ensure delivery is on time and within budget.
· Monitors and evaluates the efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery methods and procedures.
· Builds strong relationships with internal stakeholders to set project priorities and influence project scope and timelines.
Qualifications:
· High School diploma or equivalent, Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience preferred.
· 6+ years of software development experience and/or supervisory experience in an area applicable to O’Reilly.
· Development experience with Java, technical solution design and architecture, and testing and launching software products.
· Experience working 100% remote or work-from-home environment.
· Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a 100% remote or working-from-home technical team.
Skills:
· Experience in a technical leadership role leading mentoring, and developing technical teams.
· Project management skills with the ability to gather requirements, lead technical design, set technical direction, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance software solutions.
· Experience with web services and APIs, including Java, Javafx, JavaScript, Spring, Hibernate, SOLR, and SQL.
· Experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross-functional, and/or cross-business projects.

Pay: $90,000.00 – $125,000.00 per year
