Parabel Nutrition has developed a unique way of capturing the goodness of an ancient and well-known food source, the Water Lentil, and turned it into healthy and sustainable products for the 21st century. The company is continuing its rapid growth using patented technologies to refine this elegant plant into a unique, highly nutritious, and functional novel ingredient.

We are seeking a highly motivated and strategic operations leader to join our rapidly growing start-up in Vero Beach, Florida. The Vice President of Operations will be a seasoned leader with deep functional expertise and capable of driving operational excellence across the organization.

The Vice President of Operations will be a key member of the executive leadership team with responsibility for the overall strategic expansion and evolution of manufacturing and process footprint to support our growth plans.

They will be responsible for the strategy, evaluation, development, financial performance, and oversight of our operations. We need someone who is a creative idea generator who is willing to take risks – not accepting the status quo and is focused on growth. They will build strong partnerships and work collaboratively across the organization to guide organizational strategies that will lead and drive us into the future.

The Vice President of Operations will report to the CEO and be responsible for driving our manufacturing footprint and future expansion plans. They will have direct responsibility for leading and managing supply chain, quality, and manufacturing. They will lead operational improvement initiatives related to cost, business and manufacturing process improvements, and automation.

General Responsibilities:

• Create a culture of operational excellence and continuous improvement through LEAN principles and the implementation of standardized work.
• Ensure our manufacturing facilities are optimally managed and operate at industry standards for food safety and quality, employee health and safety, and environmental by creating a culture and environment of ownership, performance, pride, and accountability.
• Develop a world class operations structure and strategy tailored to the organization’s growth plans.
• Define, monitor, and communicate Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) that are assessing performance and guiding decisions.
• Build and develop employee growth and development across departments and disciplines.
• Drive a mind-set which is customer and growth focused.
• Provide strategic direction and insight to drive operational excellence aligned with the organizational goals.
• Demonstrate high level of initiative and willingness to take calculated risks in pursuing new ideas, activities, and programs.
• Model the organizational values and instill a culture of accountability and empowerment.
• Develop and lead a Continuous Improvement Program to identify opportunities for automation and process improvements that will drive efficiency and costs savings.

• Identify CAPEX opportunities and develop business cases that supports the rationale for the investment.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, or Operations Management.
• A minimum of 20 years of progressive operational leadership experience in the food ingredients or beverage industry.
• Appetite to embrace scientific thinking.
• Proven track record of leading and managing multiple disciplines, including Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing.
• Strong leader with demonstrated experience in delivering results and cultivating trusting relationships.
• Flexible and able to multitask; can work within an ambiguous, fast-moving environment, while also driving toward clarity and solutions; demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities and guiding investment in people and systems.
• Ability to lead and influence change.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information effectively to a broad range of audiences, including the Board of Directors, Investors, and Customers.
• Demonstrated experience in financial planning and analysis.
• Skilled in organizational development, people management, budget and resource development and strategic planning.
• Leadership drive and initiative with the ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively.
