About the Position
Under general supervision, diagnoses, troubleshoots, evaluates, repairs and maintains a variety of small equipment such as: commercial mowers, edgers, chain saws and other various types of two and four cycle and diesel power equipment; manufactures parts and parks related items for equipment and parks projects. Performs all parks related duties throughout the department as needed or requested including: landscape construction and grounds maintenance work in the beautification of City grounds and park locations; plants, sprays, fertilizes, prunes, irrigates and maintains lawns, plants, trees, shrubs and landscaped areas; designs and installs irrigation systems.

About the Department
Edmonds Parks, Recreation & Cultural Services department serves as the community’s key resource for providing parks, recreation and aquatic programs, culture arts tourism, economic development and enhanced quality of life for its citizens. There are more than 62 sites including 31 active parks that encompass over 325 acres, 20,000 square feet of flower beds and more than 3,000 feet of waterfront shoreline in the Edmonds Parks System which is maintained by Edmonds Parks Maintenance.
About the City
The City of Edmonds is a beautiful community on the Puget Sound waterfront with a population of 42,980 and is the gateway to the Olympic peninsula via the state ferry system. Edmonds provides a full range of services, including contracted fire services, police services a municipal court, a community pool, a regional performing arts facility, public works and utilities, a regional wastewater treatment facility, along with community events and services through our Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Services Department. Six department directors report directly to the Mayor and oversee approximately 256 full–time-equivalent employees

Education and Experience:
High School Diploma/GED Certification and five years of experience in the operation, maintenance, and repair of small gasoline and diesel powered engines and equipment including two and four cycle powered equipment and commercial mowers; experience with the metal fabrication in the manufacture and repair of parts; and experience with landscape or grounds maintenance; OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
