Overview:
In this role, responsibilities will include, but not limited to, processing Patelco’s vendor payments in accordance with corporate policies and internal controls. Help with developing methods, procedures and controls, and special projects assigned by the Accounting Manager.
The successful candidate will have experience with the accounts payable function and practicing solid controls related to invoice processing, verifying and reconciling invoices, maintaining signing authority and managing the check or ACH process.
Responsibilities:
- Performs daily accounts’ payable function to review invoices and submit invoices for payment in accordance with company policies and internal controls.
- Partner with internal groups to obtain vendor information and assist with month-end vendor accruals
- Apply appropriate review and controls to ensure invoices received can be verified and processed for payment
- Responsible for maintaining up to date desktop procedures
- Interact with cost center managers and vendor management team as needed
- Perform other accounting duties as assigned, such as general ledger entries and reconciliations
- Responsible for input of invoices and timely payment of accounts payable and follow up with business partners regarding outstanding invoices
- Uses independent judgment to resolve out of balances, which are due to a variety of reasons and new situations, so that credit union losses can be minimized
- Updates financial information in systems or spreadsheets to ensure all information is accurate and available when needed
- Makes recommendations to improve efficiencies for processes and procedures
Functional Competencies
- Previous experience working in a mid to large sized company accounts payable function
- Knowledge of ACH platforms or other automated payments solutions and accounts payable principles
- Associates degree or other appropriate certification
- Understanding of accounting concepts
- Ability to meet deadlines and ensure invoices are paid in accordance with company policies
- Outstanding oral and written communication skills
- Self-starter who is solution oriented
- Ability to be well organized, team-player and motivated
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance, or business administration or relevant work experience
- Two to three years of accounting experience is required
- Solid understanding of accounts payable and vendor management principles and practices
- Financial institution experience preferred
