The Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) is an independent nonprofit organization authorized by Congress in 2010. Its mission is to fund research that will provide patients, their caregivers and clinicians with the evidence-based information needed to make better-informed healthcare decisions. Position Summary
The Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) is offering a Fall Internship to a qualified candidate who will support the Science, Healthcare Delivery and Disparities Research team. This paid internship is a part-time, temporary employment opportunity averaging 20 – 30 hours per week for a postgraduate student. PCORI does not provide housing for out-of-town residents. All applicants must be eligible to work in the US and located in the US. Pay Range and Employment Status:Interns shall be classified as temporary employees who are hired as interim replacements, to temporarily supplement the workforce, or to assist in the completion of a specific project and who are temporarily scheduled to work for a limited duration. Employment beyond any initially stated period does not in any way imply a change in employment status. Temporary workers are not eligible for PCORI benefits. Current master’s level and above students will be paid $20.00 per hour. The Science, Healthcare Delivery and Disparities Research department is seeking an intern who will have the opportunity to:Participate in a project that will assist in a review of the PCORI maternal health portfolio and existing maternal health-related clinical guidelines to identify evidence gaps and areas for future research.Gain exposure to the cataloging, analysis, and visualization of the PCORI maternal health portfolioBuild skills in data analysis and synthesis, organization, and problem solvingIncumbent(s) in this position may be required to perform other duties and special assignments not specifically stated above.Statements outlined in this section are designated as essential job functions in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990.Required SkillsRequired Skills The Science, Healthcare Delivery and Disparities Research team is seeking an intern that will meet the following requirements:Excellent analytic skills and ability to synthesize and translate complicated material into clear and simple languageAbility to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals and periodicals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Experience in the performance of literature reviews or synthesis of systematic reviews preferred.Strong organization skills and emotional intelligence with the ability to build relationships. 3. Superior problem-solving skills. Must possess intellectual curiosity and be able to gather, assess, and synthesize information from a variety of resources.Excellent organizational and administrative skills, with strong sense of responsibility and accountability; Keen attention to detail; Ability to manage and work on multiple tasks and under tight deadlines; Write and condense information for various audiences.Proficient in MS OfficeDemonstrated knowledge, experience, and interest in healthcare research and health policy, especially maternal health, preferred.Required ExperienceRequired Experience Ideal candidates will be pursuing their postgraduate education. Preferred programs of study include but are not limited to public health and biomedical sciences.Application Process:Applications for the PCORI Spring Internship Program will be accepted up to 12:00pm EST on Thursday, July 20th.
