JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Penn State is seeking a Regional Human Resources Strategic Partner (HRSP) to provide human resources leadership and support to the following campuses: Hazleton, Scranton, and Wilkes-Barre.
This position reports to the Assistant Vice President of Administration for the Commonwealth Campuses and will serve as a resource and liaison for HR initiatives and processes across the assigned locations. Working in collaboration with the Office of the Vice President for Commonwealth Campuses, this position will serve as a senior HR partner to plan and lead human resources functions including recruitment, job classification, compensation, employee relations, professional development, rewards and recognition, promotion and tenure and diversity initiatives. The HRSP will be responsible for aligning and executing HR strategy within the campus strategic plans and leading the implementation of Human Resources programs and services. In addition, the HRSP will serve as a strategic advisor to campus leadership on staffing and organizational plans; provide counsel on policies and practices; investigate and mediate complex human resources issues; and serve as an advocate for employee issues. The HRSP will also champion and positively impact diversity in the workplace through proactive programs and processes and ensure compliance with all federal and state laws and University policies.
Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree or higher plus ten years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A Master’s degree with progressively responsible senior HR management experience handling multiple locations is preferred. Experience in higher education HR administration a plus. In addition to exceptional technical skills and management abilities, the preferred candidate must have a passion for delivering high-quality service; the ability to develop and mentor staff; the ability to manage large-scale projects with diverse groups of people; and the ability to work both independently and cooperatively with various levels of faculty, staff, and administrators. Demonstrated competencies in the following areas will also be required: superior verbal and written communication skills; strong quantitative and analytical skills; a collaborative and flexible decision-making style; a commitment to fostering diversity and equal opportunity; and the vision to assess and proactively lead organizational change.
This opportunity will require frequent travel to each of the campuses, as well as occasional travel to the University Park campus for meetings with the HR community and briefings with the Vice President for Human Resources and the VP for Commonwealth Campuses. This position has the ability to work a hybrid remote/onsite schedule. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver’s license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.
