Personal Touch Home Care is seeking a Full-Time Medical Records Clerk for our Newport News, VA location.
The Medical Records Clerk is responsible for maintaining and protecting the Organization’s clinical records. This is an entry level position with potential for growth!
QUALIFICATIONS
High School degree or equivalency.
Excellent customer service skills.
Ability to interact effectively with all levels of personnel.
Effective organization skills with attention to detail.
Effective written and verbal communication skills in English.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES
Files clinical documentation and all appropriate papers in patient’s clinical record.
Maintains adequate forms inventory for clinical records.
Mails/faxes plans of care and verbal orders, 60-day summaries (when required) and
discharge summaries to physicians.
Maintains a process on the status of physicians’ orders. Monitors unsigned orders and
sends second and third requests for signed orders to overdue physicians. Calls the offices
of seriously overdue physicians.
Compiles admissions packs and ensures an adequate supply of them.
Informs Branch Director/Supervisor/designee of incomplete patient files/untimely
submission of chart materials as necessary.
Protects all clinical records through the establishment and implementation of control
procedures for all open and closed records.
Protects confidentiality of patient and organization information through effective controls
and direct supervision of clinical records.
Closes out files no longer active.
Assists with Human Resources in filing and chart auditing
Assists with general administrative duties, as assigned
Performs other duties as assigned.
