Performs responsible professional planning work in the development, analysis and completion of planning projects; and performs other related duties as required.
Current vacancy:
There is one (1) vacancy with the Department of Parks and Recreation, Executive Services Division. This position is located at Kapolei Hale. Under general direction, this position is responsible for designing, executing, reviewing and updating major studies and planning projects for future growth of the social and physical needs for parks, gardens and urban forestry and is responsible for long-range plans and programs of island wide significance. Position may work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed. Position also serves as a Disaster Response Worker during declared emergencies.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
Equivalent to graduation from a regionally-accredited college or university with specialization in city planning, architecture, engineering, economics, sociology, public administration or a related field. Responsible work experience which demonstrated the ability to perform the essential functions of the job may be substituted for education.
Education obtained outside of the United States must be comparable to a degree earned at a regionally-accredited college/university in the United States. In order to receive credit for the education, a foreign credential evaluation (FCE) must be provided. We also reserve the right to request further information about your academic program, evidence of comparability, or an original transcript.
Work experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year-for-year basis. Such experience must have provided the knowledge, skills, and analytical ability normally gained from attaining a bachelor’s degree.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
Four (4) years of professional work experience in socio-economic research, including or supplemented by two years of professional work experience in the planning, development and formulation of social or community action projects and programs.
Such experience must have demonstrated knowledge of sources and uses of socio-economic information; and the ability to translate ideas and recommendations into plans and drawings which are in conformance with laws and regulations and with the best social, economic, and public interest utilization.
NONQUALIFYING EXPERIENCE:
Having the required number of years of experience will not in itself be accepted as qualifying for the position. Your overall experience must have been of such scope, level and responsibility as to conclusively demonstrate the ability to perform the duties of the position.
LICENSE REQUIREMENT:
Possession of an appropriate valid driver’s license, as required. (The current vacancy does not require a driver’s license.)
