Position summary:
HEALTH, WELFARE & RETIREMENT PLANS
Administer multiple benefit plans and retirement plans by following established procedures, solving problems and communicating information about the plans to Associates. Maintain an in-depth knowledge of benefit plans offered and the related regulations, policies and procedures. Reconcile monthly vendor invoices for benefit plans. Lead routine and special projects such as Annual Enrollment and Benefit Fairs. Serve as back up to answer Associates’questions regarding the leave programs other than Workers’ Compensation. Assist the Benefits Manager in the 403b plan audit. Validate payouts to participants in a frozen Cash Incentive Program twice a year. Participate in various Associate Events, including Annual Picnic and Service Awards. Participate in a team-based approach committed to a common purpose, performance goals and holding themselves mutually accountable. May perform other duties as assigned.
LEAVE ADMINISTRATION
This position is primarily responsible for administering and maintaining the Hospital’s leave programs for all Associates not to include Workers’ Compensation. This position is the primary liaison with the Associates, the department managers, the medical provider, and others as appropriate to consult and advise regarding the Associate’s leave qualification and subsequent return to work. The incumbent actively engages in the interactive
process with the Associate, medical provider and department management, as appropriate, to ensure all opportunities for accommodations have been thoroughly explored for modified duties as prescribed by the medical provider. The incumbent ensures all federal and state laws and Hospital programs related to disability and/or accommodation are followed. The incumbent tracks and collects premium payments from Associates on unpaid leave of absence, including those on Workers’ Compensation leave. The incumbent serves as back up to the other Benefits Specialist in answering Associate questions, so he/she must have a strong knowledge of all benefits and retirement programs offered by the Hospital. May perform other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent. Two to four years in health and welfare benefits administration, leave of absence programs and retirement plans. Working knowledge of federal and state benefit laws and regulations including HIPPA, COBRA, FMLA, PDL, FEHA, ADA, CFRA, ERISA, Military Leaves and Workers Compensation. Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree. CBP (Certified Benefits Professional) or PHR (Professional Human Resources) Certification. Hospital experience, Lawson software program knowledge.
Salary Range: $29.31 – $41.24 hourly. Salary will be commensurate with experience.
