Presidio Graduate School is seeking an entrepreneurial and multi-talented leader to shepherd the distinctive new Presidio Graduate
School, and the new Center for Sustainable Solutions (PCSS), into its next era of impact on sustainability and social justice.
Presidio Graduate School is currently in the midst of a merger with the University of Redlands, with expected approval in late 2023 or
2024. As outlined in our merger agreement, Presidio’s academic programs will become a center within the School of Business and Society
– currently entitled the Presidio Center for Sustainable Solutions (PCSS) – and will be based on Redland’s beautiful 20-acre
hilltop campus in (San Anselmo) Marin County, California.
The position will be hired by Presidio Graduate School and will transition
along with the Center to be a part of the University of Redlands’ School of Business & Society upon the completion of our merger,
anticipated in the first half of 2024. The Executive Director will have an opportunity to lead and develop a unique and synergistic set of
academic offerings and community engagements to bring the Presidio degree and certificate programs to their next level of growth and
impact.
This is an outstanding role for an up-and-coming nonprofit or higher education leader committed to sustainability and social
justice who is looking for a leadership role with tremendous opportunity. It would also be an excellent role for an academic practitioner
who would like to transition to greater administrative / management responsibilities.
Key position
responsibilities:
- Provide overall leadership and direction of Presidio programs, including academic and program
operations - Convene and engage key Presidio and University of Redlands stakeholders on strategic, academic, and operational
initiatives - Manage Presidio staff and faculty to deliver successful student outcomes and experiences
- In partnership with
others, including the Dean of the School of Business & Society and the admissions team, create strategies for program growth and mission
enhancement - Raise the identity, reputation, and thought leadership of Presidio programs regionally and beyond through events,
funded projects, and ambassadorship - Serve as chief Presidio spokesperson, fundraiser, and external ambassador with alumni, donors
and the broader sustainability community - Oversee finance, HR, compliance and other administrative functions as necessary
Qualifications and competencies:
- Positive, entrepreneurial leadership with proven track record to set and
meet ambitious goals - Passion for and experience with sustainability and social justice in an academic, nonprofit, or private sector
background - Understanding of the role that businesses and other organizations can play in creating a more sustainable and equitable
future - Ability to engage both high-level in strategy as well as to dive into the management of details and processes around faculty
recruitment and management and the student experience - Strengths with communication (written and verbal), teamwork, and
community-building - Patience, optimism, and a sense of humor to navigate processes required by regulators and accreditors
- Additional positive qualifications (not required):
- Experience working in higher education
- Experience managing in an
entrepreneurial setting - Teaching experience at the graduate level
- Graduate-level academic qualifications related to the
degrees offered
