The City of Watertown MA seeks a qualified candidate who will perform customer service and administrative duties assisting the Board of Assessors in the daily operation of the department. Review deeds, motor vehicle excise bills, screen applications for various tax exemptions, review documentation pertaining to assets and income, compile monthly reports of motor vehicle, boat and repair plate abatements, document and maintain department attendance records and payroll, prepare purchase orders. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to work with a high degree of accuracy; ability to maintain records and prepare reports; ability to work effectively under time constraints to meet deadlines; the ability to maintain confidentiality, work independently and exercise judgment, and to contribute to a team effort in the department. Other related work as required. The work week includes Tuesday evenings until 7:00 p.m.
Required Qualifications: High School diploma (or GED); two – three years of office and customer service experience; municipal experience preferred; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Word-processing and spreadsheet skills are required. Demonstrated ability to work in a confidential environment required. Ability to interact with the general public, communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, ability to understand, learn, interpret, and explain laws, regulations, policies and procedures.
Salary Range Begins: $48,528 annually with an excellent benefit package.
