Performs a wide variety of transit supervisory tasks under the Paratransit Manager, responsible for the supervision of the day-to-day operations of paratransit bus service, including but not limited to frequent after-hour actions to coordinate shift coverage, and performs other related duties as required.
PREFERRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATION
Qualifying work experience are credited based on a 40-hour work week.
Training and Experience: A combination of education and experience substantially equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with a baccalaureate degree in public administration, business administration, or a field pertinent to the department’s program and activities; and
Qualifying Specialized Work Experience: Professional work experience that involved the conduct of studies and analyses of programs or projects pertinent to that of the department’s programs.
Quality of Experience: Possession of the required number of years of experience will not in itself be accepted as proof of qualification for a position. The applicant’s overall experience must have been of such scope and level of responsibility as to conclusively demonstrate that he/she has the ability to perform the duties of the position for which he/she is being considered.
License Requirement: At the time of appointment, Candidate selected for hire must possess a valid motor vehicle operator’s license (Hawaii Type 3 or equivalent).
Knowledge of: The geography of the island of Kaua‘i; principles and practices of supervision, strategies of delivering high levels of customer service, effective office practices and procedures, Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to: Plan, assign, and effectively direct the work of subordinates; respond to late evening/early morning phone calls from employees to coordinate shift coverage; interact and respond to inquiries from the public; learn and adapt to a variety of software/hardware equipment; prepare, complete accurate reports and standards, analyze data, detect errors and correct inconsistencies; make sound decisions under emergency conditions; understand and interpret laws, ordinances, rules, regulations and policies; maintain effective working relationships; deal tactfully and work harmoniously with others.

Example: Twelve months of experience at 60 hours per week is equivalent to one year, not one and one-half years.
