As the Deputy Director of Procurement and Contracting Services at the Georgia Department of Public Health, you will join a dedicated group of public health professionals that help support the overall mission and vision of protecting lives of Georgian residents in a variety of ways.
Job Responsibilities
Under the general supervision of the Director of Procurement and Contracting Services, the Deputy Director is responsible for coordinating, managing, and supervising the assigned operations of the Office.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Serves as a member of the Procurement and Contracting Services leadership team to define objectives and operational plans to ensure consistent, high quality service is provided to internal and external stakeholders.
Assists Director with developing, implementing, and communicating sourcing strategies, procurement and contracts objectives and related procedures.
Supports Director in managing the daily operations of the Procurement Services Office including work assignments and productivity monitoring for procurement and contracting staff.
Assists Director with determining department strategic direction, development and implementation of short and long-range goals and objectives.
Responsible for full compliance with all state, federal and local regulations and unit operations that maximizes resources, minimizes costs and support Department of Public Health (DPH) strategies.
Builds and manages business relationships with key suppliers to facilitate effective sourcing outcomes
.Assists Director with developing departmental performance metrics.
Develops reports, oversees tracking and timely reporting of key procurement and contracting performance indicators.
Reviews, develops and implements departmental workflows, processes and procedures.
Directs staff in the utilization of quality tools and methods to promote continuous quality improvement (CQI) in department operations.
Represents Procurement Office at internal and external meetings as assigned by Director.
Advises Director on issues and changes to regulations and policies impacting agency and department operations.
Responsible for supervisory activity of assigned staff including hiring, on-boarding, performance evaluation, professional development, corrective action planning, recognition, leave review and approval.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field AND Five years of experience managing professional level staff OR Nine years of experience AND Five years of management experience at the level equivalent to area of assignment OR Five years of experience at the lower level Sr Mgr, Business Ops (GSM012). Note: An equivalent combination of education and job specific experience that provided the knowledge, experience and competencies required to successfully perform the job at the level listed may be substituted on a year-over-year basis.
