The Staff Accountant will be responsible for month end close duties as assigned, to share workloads in order to maintain expectations on close schedules, accuracy of financial reporting and gain efficiencies in close processes.
What You Will Be Doing:
- Demonstrate ability to work and think independently, interpret and exercise professional judgment and creatively problem solve.
- Maintain fixed asset accounting records including adjustments for new, impaired or retired assets.
- Prepares journal entries, sales and returns reporting and department profit and loss statements.
- Able to analyze and prepare written commentary on variances to budget and prior year’s activity.
- Supports accounts payable activities by preparing publisher chargebacks with accuracy and timeliness to month end payments.
- Prepares monthly reconciliations for assigned balance sheet accounts, including year-end audit work papers.
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and other relevant accounting standards.
- Maintains confidentiality; remain open to other’s ideas and exhibits willingness to adapt to new processes.
- Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness and monitors own work to ensure quality.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and delivering on committed deadlines.
- Strong MS Office skills.
- Testing of new ERP prior to go-live as needed.
- Knowledge of Microsoft D365.
- Interpersonal skill – The individual must maintain confidentiality, remain open to other’s ideas and exhibit willingness to try new things.
- Oral Communication – The individual speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations.
- Written Communication – The individual edits work for spelling and grammar, present numerical data effectively and is able to read and interpret written information.
What You Will Need:
- Four (4) year undergraduate degree required, preferred in Accounting or Finance.
- Four (4) plus years’ experience in public accounting preferred.
