The Accountant will be responsible for supporting the financial operations of a small private fund company. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the Accountant will be responsible for the following: * Maintaining and reconciling general ledger accounts * Preparing and analyzing financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and statement of cash flows * Performing month-end close activities, including the preparation of journal entries and accruals * Assisting with budget preparation and forecasting * Conducting variance analysis to identify trends and discrepancies * Performing financial analysis and providing recommendations for improvement * Assisting with the preparation of materials for audits and tax returns * Providing support for special projects as needed * Overseeing the financial operations of the company, including the development and implementation of financial strategies, policies, and procedures * Leading the development of annual budget and long-term financial planning * Managing the company’s financial reporting, including the preparation of financial statements and analysis of financial performance * Managing the company’s relationship with financial institutions and investors, including negotiations and the securing of financing * Overseeing the company’s risk management and insurance coverage * Leading the company’s fundraising efforts, including the identification of potential investors and the development of fundraising materials * Managing the company’s relationship with external accounting, legal, and tax advisors The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial management, with experience in the investment industry. A bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field is required, and an MBA or CFA is preferred. Strong attention to detail, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently are essential for this role. Experience with financial software, such as QuickBooks or Microsoft Dynamics, is a plus.
