Job Description

The main purpose of this position is to resolve issues that are inhibiting timely payment of invoices. This involves coordinating with customers and internal partners to identify issues and figure out solutions so payment can be received.Responsibilities:

• Working with the customers and internal partners, investigate unpaid invoices to determine what is causing the non-payment or reduced payment on assigned accounts.
• Participate in regular and frequent communication with customers via email, phone calls, reports and virtual meetings.
• Facilitate the steps needed to resolve issues, i.e., billing corrections, missing documentation, validating delivery, EDI issues etc. Proactively communicate with key areas to prevent future barriers to timely payment of invoices.
• Build strong relationships with customers.
• Build relationships with all members of the Werner team, in particular the sales force, customer service, and peers.
• Take all appropriate actions to facilitate payments to minimize bad debt expense, while maintaining a productive and mutually satisfactory relationship with the customer.
• Maintain all necessary customer data fields in our receivables system.
• Work on special projects as needed.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisory personnel.

Qualifications:

• AA degree required and BA degree preferred or equivalent experience.
• Five years of combined accounts receivable and collections experience preferred.
• Six months to 1 year of transportation experience preferred.
• Above average AS400 and People Soft experience preferred.
• Knowledge of Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) preferred.
• Ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines.
• Ability to talk on the phone to customers, both pleasant and unpleasant, develop relationships, and be persistent. Good follow through skills are a must.
• Ability to facilitate virtual meetings with internal and external contacts with a focus on problem identification and resolution.
• Strong problem solving skills and drive to resolve issues.
• Good organizational and self-review skills with the ability to be detail oriented and have a strong emphasis on accuracy.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Must be proficient with Microsoft Office applications, with above average Excel skill and proficiency with virtual meeting software.
• Ability to meet attendance requirements.
