The Saint Louis Chess Club (STLCC) is seeking self-motivated individuals to teach private chess lessons. The lessons are typically one-on-one, and conducted through online apps, such as Skype, Zoom, Google Meet, etc. The position allows instructors to build their own schedule and client base. This is a great opportunity for university students or any chess players searching for a flexible part time work load.

The STLCC is an educational non-profit organization located in the Central West End. The mission of the STLCC is to maintain a formal program of instruction to teach the game of chess, and to promote and support its educational program through community outreach and local and national partnerships, in an effort to increase the awareness of the educational value of chess.

Whether on the Chess Campus or in hundreds of St. Louis classrooms each week, the STLCC provides members and guests with a variety of opportunities to learn, play, and enjoy the game of chess. The STLCC hosts major national and international events, and also offers weekly classes, lectures, tournaments and other events designed to increase the popularity of the game.

Club Teacher responsibilities include:

• Corresponding with students via email and phone

• Generating lesson plans and curriculum catered to their student’s learning needs and goals

• Consistently attending and conducting scheduled lessons

• Performing administrative and clerical duties pertinent to the private lessons service

The Club Teacher position entails routine communication with the

Club Management Team, and Senior Chess Associates of the Saint Louis Chess Club

Requirements

• USCF standard rating 400 points above targeted student strength demographic

• Reliable internet access and a laptop or personal computer

• Accounts and login information for most major conference applications (Zoom, Skype, Google Meet, etc.)

• Enthusiasm for working with kids and adults in a learning environment
