Job Description We are seeking a Paralegal to become a part of our team! You will provide overall support to attorneys’ business needs.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct research to support legal proceedings
- Assist with the drafting and reviewing of legal documents
- Investigate facts to help in the negotiation of legal disputes
- Monitor and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations
- Record and store client information
- Prepare and file legal documents with courts and government agencies
- Coordinate with clients, courts, witnesses and third parties throughout the legal process
- Handle confidential information with discretion and maintain client confidentiality
- Effectively and efficiently track time spent on matters for client billing
- Perform administrative functions related to the practice of law, including scheduling appointments, managing calendars and handling phone calls
- Utilize document management systems to organize and store legal files.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience working as a Paralegal or Legal Assistant, preferably in civil litigation and/or family law
- Familiarity with legal research
- Ability to prioritize and multitask
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Deadline and detail-oriented
- Bachelor’s degree in paralegal studies or related field preferred
- Strong knowledge of legal terminology and procedures
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- High level of professionalism and ethical standards
- Working knowledge of Westlaw, TxDocs and Smokeball preferred
