Position Description
North Seattle College is searching for an equity-minded and innovative Computer Science faculty who will provide core instruction and leadership for the exciting new Bachelor of Science (BS) in Computer science degree program launching in Fall 2022. This full-time, tenure-track faculty will join a group of passionate educators who proudly embrace our mission of Changing Lives through Education, both in and beyond the classroom. Our faculty are highly collaborative and care deeply about creating an inclusive and equitable environment to advance student success for all students.
This faculty will be responsible for teaching upper division undergraduate computer science courses to the diverse student body of North Seattle College. In addition to teaching duties, they will assume a leadership role in equity-minded curriculum and program development of the BS in Computer Science. The faculty will build and sustain relationships and community with internal partners across the College and the Seattle Colleges District, as well as with external partners to eliminate equity gaps for degree-seeking students and increase diversity in the pool of computer science graduates.
North Seattle College is among the Community and Technical Colleges (CTCs) in the state of Washington that will offer this 4-year degree following the landmark legislation in July 2021 authorizing CTCs Bachelor of Science in Computer Science degrees. The program is being developed and implemented with the utmost goal of increasing racial and gender diversity and eliminating equity gaps for individuals who pursue their education and careers in the field of Computer Science.
This is a nine-month, full-time faculty position with a base salary of $84,376 during the regular academic year; workload balancing and additional premiums qualify this position for an additional 20% on top of this base salary. Additional compensation is available for moonlight assignments during the regular academic year and summer quarter (either instructional or through release time projects).
This is a tenure track position.

This position reports to the Dean of Workforce Instruction and is governed by the Collective Bargaining Agreement between The American Federation of Teachers (Seattle Community Colleges Local 1789) and Seattle Colleges District VI.
