Senior Accountant Full Time

for a remote Senior Accountant who is passionate about Environmental Sustainability and where employees are proud of the work being done in the Department and Division. Your efforts will include recommendations for financial performances and suggest cost-saving measures. You will collaborate with an established team that works in a positive cohesive environment.

You will be involved with:
  

• Financial audits
• Yearly Landfill Liability calculations 
• Disposal rate test and implementation in the Paradigm system
• All month-end and year-end accounting activities

• Partner with supervisor invested in expanding career growth (i.e. Business & Finance Officer, a variety of Analysts positions within and beyond the division) 
• Leading and supporting other accounting staff 

 What You’ll Be Doing:
  

• Review and approve accounts payable invoices and schedules.
• Review and approve accounts receivable corrections.
• Bank Reconciliations and Monthly Tonnage Reporting along with creating recurring journal entries.
• Review and approve Fixed and Controllable Asset transactions.
• Work directly with internal/external auditors.

You Should Have:
  

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and 3 years’ experience working in the accounting/finance field or a combination of education and experience that allows you to perform the duties of this position.
• Minimum 2 years of experience leading staff.
• Experience using a financial system and reporting systems.
• Working knowledge of Excel functions (i.e. pivot tables, csv data downloads, vlookup, etc.)

It Would Also Be Great if You Have:
  

• 5 years or more experience working in the accounting/finance field within a government agency.
• 5 years of experience using financial system and reporting systems.
• Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) requirements.

Working Conditions: 
  

• Telecommuting Requirement: The work associated with this position will be performed predominantly by telecommuting, with occasional onsite work and meetings, as influenced by business needs. Employees will have access to shared workspaces at various King County facilities. Employees must reside in WA state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements. Employees will be provided with a County issued laptop and must maintain a workspace with an internet connection (access may be supplemented in some situations) where they can reliably perform work and remain available and responsive during scheduled work hours. 
• Work Schedule: This position works a 40 hour work week; 5×8, Mon.-Fri., between 7 am and 5 pm
• FLSA Status: This position is not overtime eligible.
• Union Representation: This position is represented by Local 117 Professional and Technical Employees.
