The YoungStar Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) Manager is responsible for the development and implementation of services and activities based on research-driven best practices in creating learning opportunities in early childhood education and care programs that support equitable access, inclusive environments, and a sense of belonging that authentically represents children and families. The Manager develops relevant products such as templates, job-aids, and resources; manages the DEIB Specialist, and leads the internal YoungStar Team DEIB efforts that create and sustain a positive working culture. The Manager also supports culturally and linguistically appropriate outreach activities to engage regulated early care and education and school-age care providers, including those that are currently not participating, and interfaces with staff to provide specialized support to improve services. This role manages up to five special population subcontracts with organizations/individuals with expertise in the following populations: Black, Latinx, Hmong, tribal nations, and rural communities.

Duties
Recruits, hires, develops and manages a specialist who delivers customized DEIB content for participating programs
Researches, develops, recommends, and executes creative strategies to foster diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging goals
Reviews current practices and policies, assessing and analyzing the extent to which they support or hinder the project’s goals
Collects and analyzes statistical data to evaluate the project’s population in accordance with diversity standards and goals
Leads efforts to develop and implement strategies to intentionally engage with Black, Latinx, Hmong, tribal nations and rural communities
Develops and facilitates affinity groups in marginalized communities
Develops and/or acquires training and development to aid capacity-building and retention initiatives
Provides guidance to supervisory staff in developing strategies that support project goal.
Maintains and shares knowledge of diversity-related issues, legislation, and best practices
Provides training and policy updates to colleagues
Participates in assigned meetings, events and training as required
