Summary
This role holds a shared responsibility for the Don Plant in Pocatello, Idaho and the Smoky Canyon Mine operations located near Afton, Wyoming, with up to 25% travel time between locations. This role is responsible for the day-to-day administration of policies and programs covering several or all the following HR programs: payroll, recruiting, salary, benefit administration (FMLA), training, employee and labor relation, safety, and personnel research. Provides input in the development of policies and procedures. Individuals in these positions receive support and direction from location and Corporate HR.
Key Responsibilities
Assist managers on recruiting efforts from posting a role, interviewing, and following the candidate through the hiring process.
Conduct exit interviews and identifies key issues to report to the HR Manager and Leaders.
Assists with ensuring compliance with EEO regulations, including development of Affirmative Action Plan, Utilization Analyses, and any other required reporting. Involvement in annual Affirmative Action Plan reporting and analyses.
Oversees employee record maintenance, i.e., pay/position changes, new hires, terminations, and discipline records.
Maintains plant seniority records in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement and maintains any Union related records.
Consults with management and employees with respect to personnel policies, practices, and procedures in accordance with labor agreements and/or local work rules when appropriate.
Consults and assists in problem resolution related to human resource issues and ensures compliance with state and federal regulations. Provides guidance to leaders through the disciplinary process and termination process.
Conducts/assists with payroll at the Don Plant and Smoky Canyon Mine.
Responsible for disability management programs. Oversees administration of employee transitional return to work, FMLA and Short-Term programs. Escalates issues to the HR Manager when appropriate.
Assists with New Hire Onboarding.
Supports community relations and participates in local functions and activities and supports other staff in employee events.
Typical Education
Bachelor’s Degree (B.A. or B.S.) from a 4-year college or university – Preferred
Relevant Experience
3+ years related experience and/or training in Human Resources
Knowledge of employment/labor laws
Strong experience with MS Office, HRIS systems and Kronos (desired)
Experience with leave administration
Union Relations – desired
Strong aptitude for problem solving, ability to make decisions and seek resolution
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Strong interpersonal, influencing, and conflict resolution skills
