Southern Utah University Hiring for Community and Government Relations Coordinator at Cedar City, UT Full Time

Job Description: The office of Community & Government Relations is seeking a dynamic, self-motivated coordinator to help support the community-centric mission and goals of the newly created office within the division of Community Outreach and Engagement. Duties and Responsibilities: External Communications, specifically the management, creation, and distribution of the monthly Dear Neighbor newsletter. Maintain various databases for accuracy. Convening of community engagement committees such as Community Advisory Board, Community Action Team, Hispanic Coalition, etc. Arrange details including space, food, guests and participants, preparation and distribution of agendas and minutes. Facilitation and execution of collaborative programs and projects with internal and external participants Support the University’s governmental affairs efforts and priorities before, during, and after the Utah legislative session. This includes coordinating communications and meeting schedules for the University President, AVP of Government Relations, and other institutional leaders as needed. Coordinate SUU Day on the Hill. Assist with the facilitations of university relationships in advancing university priorities at the local, regional, state, and federal levels of government. Conduct research, analyze proposed policies, evaluate the effects of existing policies, and report findings Assists in the supervision of student employees. Other duties as assigned. Educat ion and Experience Requirements: Bachelor’s degree required. 2-5 years experience in customer service, sales, communications, or similar field. Organizational skills to coordinate and complete multiple projects simultaneously. History of dependability, reliability, and initiative. Computer knowledge and/or aptitude to use various software applications including Google suite, microsoft suite, mass communications, etc. Interpersonal and communication skills to relate to diverse groups and constituencies. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to convene and collaborate with various departments and organizations across campus.
