Description:
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is an agency of the U.S. Department of Transportation (DoT). Within NHTSA, the Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) strives to successfully manage information processing challenges that effectively meet statutory obligations and deadlines while processing increasing volumes and managing the complexities of incoming information and an expanding user base.
The ability to identify serious safety defects early in the vehicle/equipment component production cycle and to influence recalls early in the cycle depends largely on the efficient use of information processing resources that provide NHTSA staff with the maximum information available on a particular subject as soon as possible after identifying the possibility of a defect.
