JOB SUMMARY
The Manager, Sales Compensation will provide leadership support for the overall structure of commission eligible jobs, and individual design of various sales compensation programs across the company. This position will partner closely with the sales channel leaders to assist with the development, modeling, evaluation of competitive sales compensation programs that attract and retain sales employees, drive business performance and results, and provide rewards and recognition for individuals and teams.

This role will assure our programs are aligned with business strategies, sales objectives, and competitive marketplace positions. The Manager, Sales Compensation will also ensure external regulatory compliance, and that internal governance controls of Charter are met. This is a leadership position, with responsibility of managing a team of Sales Compensation Consultants and Sr Sales Compensation Consultants.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Actively and consistently supports all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience.
• Provide direction and leadership for the sales compensation function of the Compensation department
• Ensure compensation administration is compliant with internal policies, external regulations and is cost effective to administer
• Evaluate effectiveness of existing programs. Provide intelligent business insights through translation of reporting and analytics. Provide guidance and consulting support to the business leaders on opportunities and changes that are consistent with business needs and market trends
• Establish appropriate processes to provide accurate and excellent customer service to internal customers
• Review job evaluations to ensure internal equity, external competitiveness, and legal compliance
• Ensure that the various sales compensation programs are appropriately designed to stimulate the desired sales behavior, are fully competitive with industry peers, and are well communicated to the sales force to enable them to achieve their sales, margin, market share and other goals
• Manages the design, implementation and maintenance of a competitive base compensation structure.
• Understand the company’s business model and various selling roles to design, model, and implement sales commission programs and SPIFFs that support the strategic direction and the business plan
• Create plan documents and communication plans and strategies to support the programs
• Evaluate sales positions and formulates recommendations to business on pay grade, title, total comp level, pay mix, and FLSA exemption status based on analysis of internal equity and market competitiveness
• Assist Commission Administration and Systems teams in the understanding of the intent of plan designs for their proper execution and day-to-day administration of commission processing
• Provide education and training to sales channel leaders and Human Resources staff regarding sales compensation issues and practices
• Manage a team of Sales Compensation Design professionals. Provide leadership and guidance to their staff to endeavor for peak performance. Is expected to lead cross-functionally on compensation related initiatives. This includes resolving conflicts and facilitating compromise to reach a desired result.
• Research and maintain knowledge of emerging trends and how they may optimize current business practices
• Assure compliance with all federal, state and local regulations and manages updating all compensation practices in accordance with those requirements

Required Education
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Human Resources, Business, related field or equivalent experience

Required Related Work Experience

5+ years Sales compensation design and development experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred Skills/Abilities and Knowledge
Telecommunications/cable industry experience highly desired

Some sales operations or financial forecasting experience may be helpful

Exposure to major financial, customer billing, and commission system may be helpful

CCP and CSCP preferred

Preferred Related Work Experience
2+ years Management or leadership experience
