As design manager, you will help to conceptualize, craft and execute holistic designs which support the physical and aspirational Starbucks experience. This includes contributing to innovation projects to help evolve our brand and support our portfolio of store growth. Your primary mission is to ideate, create, collaborate, mentor and inspire through the language of design strategy and systems thinking. You will be working within an always evolving, design focused brand, which continues to invest deeply in positive partner and customer connections.
As an Environments Design Manager, you will…
– Elevate design and uphold the aspirations of a global and enduring brand.
– Design highly influential projects that impact the entire ecosystem of the Starbucks brand experience
– Inspire, mentor and contribute to an active and collaborative design oriented culture
– Engage in a hands-on, positive and impactful work which respond to the business aspirations of the brand.
– Lead, influence and support design ideas, conversations and directions across the organization, including strategy, global growth, and other cross-functional teams.
We’d love to hear from people with:
– Design excellence and leadership experience within typologies of retail, hospitality or restaurant design. Focus on concept innovation and brand relevant work valued. (5 years min.)
– Team leadership/supervision at contributor level 3-5 years)
– Bachelor’s degree required in relevant field of Architecture, Interior Design
– Ability to apply knowledge of multidisciplinary business principles and practices to achieve successful outcomes in cross-functional projects and activities
– Excellent team leadership and communication (verbal/written) skills
– Current knowledge of industry trends in retail store and restaurant hospitality design including casework, detailing, furniture and finishes
– Current working knowledge of building and health codes, accessibility and compliance issues
– Current working knowledge of construction, detailing/assembly, construction process/administration and management.
– Demonstrated working knowledge of programming, spatial organization, spaceplanning in Revit or AutoCAD.
– Demonstrated experience and advanced use of Sketchup and 3D visualization.
– Ability to balance design, with operational needs, budget objectives and business drivers which result in exceptional and successful store environments
– Ability to balance multiple designs and multiple projects under rigorous and frequently demanding deadlines
– Ability to extract and inform design decisions and design principles/objectives which relate to context, location and region.
– Exercise knowledge and understanding of architectural, MEP and structural drawings, details and specifications.
– Demonstrated process improvement
– Able to work independently with minimal supervision
– Organizational skills; attention to detail; passion for work and team
– Ability to multi-task and prioritize decisions/deliverables.
– Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
– Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
