Area Operations Manager

Primary Function:
This position will work closely with the General Manager of Operations to lead the development, coordination, and implementation of the company’s business plan for the southeast region (Louisiana east) market. As the Area Operations Manager, this role will direct the operational management teams in the strategic execution of the work to achieve the established business goals (Environmental, Health & Safety, Productivity, Schedule, Financial, and Quality). This position will perform as a “Seller/Doer” developing and maintaining professional business relationships primarily in our get work strategy of the Louisiana area while providing leading-edge project management to position the company as a competitive leader.
Job Responsibilities:
· Proved leadership and good communication to “Lead a team” responsible for managing multiple projects including resource planning and scheduling, construction means and methods, client relations, negotiations, quality, productivity contracts, and job costs and project controls.
· Lead by example to foster and maintain a strong safety and health-focused culture throughout all operations and be visible on the jobsites.
· Actively mentor and develop others by providing constructive feedback and praise on the observed behaviors.
· Support the Operational Management Team including support departments to achieve the best performance and attainment of business strategic goals.
· Ensure adequate personnel resources are in place and their skills and competencies are effectively leveraged.
· Expect a strong performance-based culture and contribute to performance reviews and people staffing decisions within the company.
· Engages client leadership with business development to grow the region to grow with established clients and grow with new clients.
· Ensure compensation rewards are fair and equitable and directly tied to performance.
· Build a team culture throughout the company and break down any barriers between departments.
· Direct the execution of standard project management protocols and aid the team in analyzing and resolving problems that arise within project execution, including negotiations with clients as needed.

· Review financial statements, bid and activity reports and other performance data to measure productivity and goal achievement and to determine areas needing cost reduction and program improvement.
· Foster and maintain a culture of continuous improvement. Expect lessons learned, best practices, and operational excellence each and every day.
· Consult on project estimates and bids prior to submittals.
Qualifications / Requirements:
· A bachelor’s degree (or at least 10 years equivalent experience) in industrial, oil/gas, and/or construction management combined with ten years’ experience in successful project management.
· Must have significant competency in business principles and leadership/human relations. The preferred candidate must be computer literate with demonstrated success in leading safe, productive projects that meet or exceed quality standards while satisfying the client’s needs.
· Knowledge and experience in budgeting, cost control, and negotiation.
· Ideally candidate would have existing client contacts that would aid in getting future work and also has proven history of getting work in Louisiana
· Ideally candidate would have a following of team members that he/she could bring on to future work.
· Excellent organizational, leadership, communication, presentation, and analytical skills a necessity.
· Work well under pressure despite possible opposition or resistance and able to meet deadlines
· Excellent client service skills with the demonstrated ability to identify and resolve issues, portray a positive and professional image to clients.
· Requires a competitive attitude while working in a team environment and awareness of competitive pressures.
· Knowledge of sales/marketing processes in construction and a proven track record of successful transactions are required.
· Position requires travel to sites and off-hour time to support business objectives.
· Ability to pass site specific training and access refinery and chemical plants is required
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $75.00 – $95.00 per hour
