Job Duties:
Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Work on multiple projects that the unit is involved with and be able to answer/train all team members to the project. As the unit receives new project the auditor will be responsible to implementing and creating SOP’s, and training material. Will be the point of contact for such project and lead trainings.
Inspect and examine audit and non-audit cases, returns; make sound determinations and formal recommendations for all cases and/or audits or prepared billings. Attends meetings and huddles of work unit or section. Cascade information at huddles, track (spreadsheets, databases, emails, telephone calls, texts, success stories, and the like) on all inquiries. Provide process improvement recommendations.
Provide customer service, advise, and educate local government staff/officials and taxpayers on Transaction Privilege Tax code (title 42) and relevant administrative statues regarding Arizona Transaction Privilege Taxes through the usage of email or phone. Properly acquire specific information, obtain consultation or advice and serve the taxpayers.
Creates engaging digital/electronics/paper based educational materials for the public. Collaborates with Communications Division to advise the necessary and timely updates. Attend educational events and meetings.
Utilize technical supported equipment. Contributes and cascades information which is appropriate to vision share within each unit or work system operation. Utilize all needed technical software (ie, Google Platform) to schedule. 0%)

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):
Knowledge of
Accounting, auditing principles and practices; federal and state tax statutes, regulations and court rulings.
Computerized accounting and auditing applications and systems.
City tax code matters.
Skilled in
Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Access); and technical software applications (i.e., web-ex, Google).
Analytical mind-set; Skills in mathematical computation; excellent verbal and written communication; high level, highly demanding, time management abilities.
Ability to
Work independently; have exceptional interpersonal skills and be flexible with priority changes.
Work effectively with peers in other divisions; information share, as appropriate.
Organizational and planning skills.
Selective Preference(s):
The ideal candidate for this position will have:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or closely related field. Robust customer services skills.
Experience with Continuous Improvement, Six Sigma and/or LEAN is preferred.
Pre-Employment Requirements:
Valid driver’s license.
In-state travel may be required. Requires possession of and ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver’s license appropriate to the assignment; Required to obtain and maintain, internal driver course courses (ie., TraCorp).
Candidates for this position will be required to submit Tax Filing Records, Employment Verification Check and Fingerprints that will be used to check criminal history records from the Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) and the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI).
