The State of Connecticut, Judicial Branch, Office of the Probate Court Administrator is seeking an experienced accountant to perform a diverse range of accounting and audit duties.
The position involves three primary areas of responsibility: general accounting and month-end reporting, supervision of the eBilling accounts payable process, and internal financial reviews at the Probate Courts. The individual will monitor system-wide expenditures and prepare month-end financial schedules, and will provide support to the probate courts with regard to the eBilling accounts payable process and other court needs such as banking. In addition, the individual will conduct financial reviews at the Probate Courts throughout the State of Connecticut (approximately one or two days per month travel to a court).
The successful candidate must have strong analytical ability and excellent interpersonal skills. Knowledge of internal controls and audit procedures, advanced Excel skills and supervisory experience is highly desired. Accounting degree preferred but not required.
Salary Range: $76,225 – $103,780/year – plus State of Connecticut benefits.
New employees begin at the minimum. The starting salary for existing state employees may be higher than the minimum, in accordance with existing Judicial Branch policy.

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
General Experience: Five years of experience in accounting or accounts examining.
Substitutions Allowed:
College training may be substituted for the General Experience on the basis of fifteen (15) semester hours equaling one-half (1/2) year of experience to a maximum of four (4) years for a Bachelor’s degree.
A Master’s degree related to the assigned area of responsibility may be substituted for one (1) additional year of the General Experience.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: Required to have a valid motor vehicle operator’s license and a motor vehicle available for daily business use. May be required to travel during the course of daily work.
