To support all aspects of applications programming; manage a program of system maintenance activities; perform related work. This job family translates business and technical requirements into well-engineered, tested, and deployed business applications. Responsibilities include the analysis, design, development, testing, installation, and maintenance of information systems. Incumbents interface with customers and other developers to determine the most efficient and cost-effective approach to meet business requirements. Solutions utilize a variety of hardware and software technologies and may include new code, construction, modifications to existing modules, and/or package implementation. Incumbents of this job series develop designs and evaluate and select tools necessary to build and support their systems.
Example of Duties
Conducts analysis of business needs and develops specification
Troubleshoots application problems independently
Assists in design sessions by presenting logical statements of business problems and designs and offering and incorporating idea
Manages a program of system maintenance activities
Ensures change requests and small enhancements are completed per plans
Develops code to add functionality to new or existing systems.
Design, build and maintain web pages for idaholottery.com, vip.idaholottery.com, websites including content development using Search Engine Optimization (SEO) using a variety of platforms and tools
Works with supervisor and graphic artist on design and use of website; interactivity, links, and usage; and is responsible for all routine maintenance. (Examples of routine maintenance for the Idaho Lottery; Scratch Game pages, PullTab, website banners, current promotions, past promotions, contest winners, second-chance draws, advertising, VIP Club Sweepstakes, Lottery VIP newsletter)
Manage content-related tasks associated with site revisions, new product launches, product updates and product revisions across product pages and web content management systems (CMS). This includes integration of new data feeds from APIs or automated file uploads.
Review designs created by web designers; ask any necessary clarifying questions before starting on work
Write code to implement visual elements into various web applications
Create prototypes, mockups, and staging sites for review and feedback
Optimize websites and applications to ensure fast loading speeds
Maintain websites and implement any necessary additions or enhancements
Identify and troubleshoot various website issues and coding problems
Collaborate with members of the website team, including designers and back-end developers, to consistently improve functionality and user-friendliness of web applications
Implement written and graphic-based web content leveraging Adobe Creative Suite
Maintain updated knowledge of the development industry and any advancements in technology
Meet tight deadlines as required
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum: (The required skills and qualifications needed to perform the job)
Good knowledge of multiple programming languages and software development tool suites; software development processes and software testing practices.
Experience creating, interpreting and documenting user requirements; testing and deploying production systems.
Minimum Qualification Specialties: (Attributes needed for superior performance, specialty areas)
Experience in computer graphic design techniques.
Experience developing and maintaining a website.
Preferred Qualifications:
Understanding of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and various content management systems
Experience with design software (e.g., Photoshop)
Understanding of UX/UI (user experience/user interface) design
