Position Overview

The Office Associate assigned to the Healthcare Unit at Menard Correctional Center serves as the confidential secretary to the Healthcare Unit Administrator and schedules all medical furloughs for individuals in custody at the facility, including contacting outside medical facilities to obtain appointments. Menard Correctional Center is seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to serve in the role. We encourage all qualified applicants to apply.

Job Responsibilities

• Serve as confidential secretary to the facility Medical Director and Health Care Unit Administrator.
• Schedules medical furloughs that have been approved by the Medical Director to include contacting outside medical facilities to obtain appointments.
• Uses computer and the programs contained therein to gather data for the purpose of formulating reports, responding to internal and external queries and to effectively communicate policy and procedural changes to affected staff.
• Serves as secretary and member to Continuous Quality Improvement Committees as assigned.
• Adheres to the policies and procedures of the Health Care Unit, Administrative/Institutional Directives, and the Departmental Rules of the Department of Corrections.
• Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

• Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to the completion of high school AND two (2) years of office experience.
• Requires the ability to keyboard accurately at 45 words per minute.

Conditions of Employment

• Requires ability to pass the IDOC/IDJJ background check
• Requires ability to pass a drug screen. On January 1, 2020, the Cannabis Regulation and Tax Act made it legal for residents over the age of 21 to produce, consume and sell cannabis in Illinois.
