The mission of the Field Enforcement Division of the ATCC is to protect consumers from illicit alcohol, tobacco, and cannabis products entering the marketplace as well as ensuring state revenues are protected. The Field Enforcement Division provides guidance to the alcoholic beverage and tobacco industries through a program of inspection, education, and enforcement to ensure compliance with state laws and regulations. The Field Enforcement Division strives to maximize a culture of compliance with the alcohol, tobacco and cannabis laws and regulations of the state by being adaptable to statutory changes and product evolution, employing modern technology, and advancing state-wide consistency in enforcement.

Main Purpose of Job
The Alcohol, Tobacco, and Cannabis Commission is seeking to employ an Investigator for the Regulatory and Research Section, Trade Practices Unit. The incumbent will perform and coordinate inspections of establishments that hold a license or permit issued by the Office of the Executive Director (OED) and conduct pre-license inspections relative to new applicants that are seeking any license or permit issued by the OED. This position will work with industry members of those commodity products (alcohol, tobacco, etc.) that are regulated by the OED to seek voluntary compliance of applicable laws and regulations, relative to the manufacture, distribution, sale, storage, and transportation of those regulated commodity products. This position will provide education to industry members to seek voluntary compliance of minor violations detected during routine inspections and conduct any necessary follow-up investigations to ensure compliance is achieved. This position will receive and investigate complaints related to potential violations of COMAR Trade Practice Regulation, Alcohol Beverage Article, Tax General Article, and Business Regulation Article relative to any commodity product regulated by the OED.
Duties of this position will require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
Duties of this position will require special physical demands such as lifting 50 pounds or more, climbing ladders, etc.

Education : Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience : Four (4) years of administrative staff or professional work.
