Main Purpose of Job
The position serves as a generalist for the DJS Office of Human Resources and provides technical advice and guidance to DJS employees, supervisors and managers regarding professional recruitment, classification and staffing matters, and grievances and disciplinary issues. The position facilitates activities for recruitment processes, non-competitive position classifications, vacancy downgrades within same series, classification determinations for contract and temporary employees, review and classification determination of acting capacity requests, retirement procedures, worker’s compensation issues, FMLA laws, EAP policies, leave donation/leave bank processes and on-boarding programming.
The position participates in grievance and disciplinary conferences and advises management of appropriate actions based on laws, regulations, policy, or precedence. The position participates in the recruitment and selection processes by preparing recruitment announcements, reviewing and evaluating employment applications, and overseeing the interview process.
Minimum Qualifications
Experience: Five years of experience, one year of professional HR experience involving recruitment and employment services, classification and compensation, employee relations, test development and validation, job analysis, job evaluation, salary administration, HR program evaluation, or HR policy formulation and an additional four years of professional HR management work experience in the areas of recruitment and selection, classification, salary administration, employee relations, test development and validation or as a generalist.
