Main Purpose of Job
To collect, analyze, evaluate, and disseminate Homeland Security and Intelligence information and provide case support for uniform criminal investigative activities and coordinate the sharing of criminal intelligence information among the Maryland State Police (MSP), Maryland Coordination and Analysis Center (MCAC) to include the Baltimore Regional Information Center (BRIC) and government agencies in Maryland and the Mid-Atlantic region for the purpose of writing laws, resource allocation, providing critical information for officer/public safety, program targeting and investigative support.
POSITION DUTIES
Provide investigative analysis for law enforcement agencies in Maryland related to all crimes, trends, and patterns by reviewing, organizing and analyzing investigative case files to identify undocumented areas of investigation and identify new leads for possible follow-up investigation;
Enter pertinent information into INFO SHARE to ensure correct and timely reporting collection of information;
Collate, evaluate, and disseminate incoming reports and/or information and relegates assignments to appropriate analyst;
Provide MCAC personnel or other law enforcement personnel advice and assistance in case support as they relate to area of expertise. This could include: geographic mapping of crimes or crime patterns, link charts, timelines, etc.
Makes recommendations based on the analysis of area crime, to requesters, in order to allow them to formulate personnel allocation, financial expenditures and inter-agency communication;
Contact appropriate personnel from law enforcement agencies to ascertain information and intelligence for coordination at the MCAC in order to further MSP/allied agency communication and coordination;
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Possession of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university.
Experience: Three years of experience collecting, analyzing, assessing and disseminating criminal intelligence information.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
Employees in this classification may be assigned duties, which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.

Successful candidates will be placed on the Eligible List categorized as BEST QUALIFIED, BETTER QUALIFIED or QUALIFIED and remain eligible for consideration for at least one year from the date of examination. The list will be used by the hiring manager to select employees. The list will be valid for one year.
