The Position
Administrative Assistants perform a broad variety of clerical, secretarial and administrative support duties in an assigned agency, program or other work unit within State government and the Nevada System of Higher Education.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
The Las Vegas regional office is the first line support to the general public, vessel dealers, and SLAP permittees, serves four Nevada counties, and is responsible for accuracy for over $495,000 in annual sales of licenses, tags, vessel registrations and titles, and inventory control for those products. Incumbent will interpret laws, regulations, policies and procedures, NRS and NAC, and receives, reconciles, reviews and processes accounts receivable. The position processes vessel title and registration documents using regulation, policies and procedures; inspects vessels for title perfection, which includes climbing into boats for required information for issuance of Nevada title; issues hunting, fishing, trapping licenses, and hunt tags; and assists the public with information regarding wildlife laws pertaining to the issuance of hunt tags, licenses and permits. The position must be able to interpret sales flow from client records and determine problems and corrections. The position assists with inbound support calls/requests via VOIP telephone system and agency Call Center/Help Desk; resolution and/or identification of escalated support concerns and/or distribution of incoming requests requiring a higher level of authority. The incumbent performs cash and document control procedures, daily reconciliation, and monthly inventory control. To Qualify
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of clerical and administrative support experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: maintaining records and files; preparing a variety of materials using a personal computer or word processor; assisting customers in completing forms and applications; and/or performing secretarial duties in support of professional staff; OR one year of experience as an Administrative Assistant I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. Special Requirements This position requires a valid driver’s license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation.
