The Division of Personnel Management, Bureau of Human Resources (BHR), Region 2 is currently recruiting to fill two (2) Human Resources Assistant positions at either the entry or Advanced level. These positions can be headquartered at any DOC facility or office Statewide. Headquartered location will be determined with the supervisor upon appointment.

Position Summary
One position will provide technical and administrative support within the Human Resources program area for the Division of Adult Institutions (DAI). The position will perform a wide variety of duties related to staffing, recruitment, selection, labor relations, record management, position control, and employee orientation.
The other position serves as the primary contact and liaison for Family Medical Leave, Leave Without Pay, accommodations, and alternate duty processes and procedures for assigned units. This position also works with assigned employing unit human resource staff, supervisors, managers and employees for staffing options, certification procedures, appointment processes including entry into PeopleSoft and criminal background checks, and provides support to Human Resources Specialists and back up to other Human Resources Assistants.
Salary Information
Starting salary for the HR Assistant (pay schedule 81-05) is between $21.00 and $24.00 per hour; starting salary for the HR Assistant Advanced (pay schedule 81-04) is between $24.00 and $27.00 per hour; plus, excellent benefits. Salary will depend on qualifications and experience. Salary for current or former state employees will be determined in accordance with the current Wisconsin Compensation Plan. A 12-month probationary period is required.
Job Details
Applicants must be legally entitled to work in the United States (i.e., a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without DOC sponsorship) at the time of application. The Department of Corrections will conduct criminal background checks on applicants prior to selection to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled. Upon hire, all new DOC employees are subject to fingerprinting.
The Department of Corrections may conduct pre-employment drug screens. Any applicant who is offered employment in a position which requires a pre-employment drug screen must pass the screen as a contingency to employment. Applicants who fail or refuse the drug screen will not be given further consideration for employment.
All state employees must report their COVID vaccination status, whether vaccinated or not and provide supporting documentation if vaccinated. Newly hired employees will be required to submit this information within their first two weeks of employment.
