Conduct new hire safety orientations
Conduct on the job safety training for new hires and job transfers
Conduct crane and forklift operator training and annual evaluations
Assist in all safety incident investigations, ensure completion of all reporting and assist with the implementation of safety related corrective measures
Ensure Safety Management System is implemented at the facility (forms, policies, procedures, revisions, etc.)
Point person for all internal and external safety audits/inspections
Work with HR Manager/Plant Manager to schedule hearing tests and noise monitoring assessments as needed within the facility
Conduct routine safety inspections, observe general work practices and enforce safety policies and procedures; when an unsafe work practice is observed, coach teammates on safe work procedures
Recommend measures to help protect workers from potentially hazardous work methods, processes, or materials
Maintain the Job Safety Analysis program
Schedule, lead, and document all safety committee meetings
Assist as needed in leading shift safety meetings; post and communicate safety messages/alerts from corporate safety as needed
Schedule, conduct, and properly document monthly safety training topics with all teammates
Facilitate the Safety Rewards Program at the plant and track safety points for all teammates
Monitor compliance with environmental health and safety program
Issue training packets and maintain training record/files/matrix
Human Resources
Aids in recruitment responsibilities, including setting up interviews for the plant manager, onboarding paperwork, and new hire orientation
Assists in compiling and reporting the status of all Workers Compensation claims as requested by the Corporate Safety Manager
Provide support to HR by updating bulletin boards and regulation posters, putting up and taking down announcements/postings, updating files for new hires/terms, scanning and emailing items to offsite HR Manager that will need their direct attention, file/maintaining personnel files for all teammates
Guidance given to all teammates on who to reach out to for questions regarding benefits, wellness initiatives, payroll questions, PTO/Points, and other miscellaneous concerns
Assist with Operations, Safety, and HR projects/miscellaneous events as needed
Other duties as assigned
What you need to be successful:
Experience in HR and/or Safety is strongly preferred
Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time
Ability to communicate effectively
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Ability to work in a variety of situations
Excellent writing skills
Ability to prepare detailed reports and correspondence
Ability to work effectively with all levels of management and teammates
Ability to work independently and in a team environment
General understanding of computer programs such as Excel, Word, Outlook, Access, and PowerPoint
Organization skills are a must
