Principal Accountabilities
o Writes, edits and proofs hardcopy and online documents for consistency. Examples: reference documents for hardware and software products, code, user interface tests, white papers, Application Program Interface and Command Line Interface Documentation, online help systems.
o Ensures all deliverables are technically and mechanically accurate, and adhere to organizational standards and guidelines.
o Collaborates with department team members, product management, engineering, marketing, services, legal, regulatory and others to develop content for standard documentation, product and role-based enablement needs in-line with the development cycle that align with business objectives to deliver content across multiple modalities.
o Creates and manages related schedules, content management, and information architecture.
o Maintains content, tools, application access, account administration, and workflow administration.
Principal Responsibilities
o Contributes to planning and overall design of technical information, including installation, operation and maintenance instructions, and other types of technical content such as video scripts, blog posts, flowcharts, technical advisories, and release notes.
o Follows organizational standards and guidelines to publish content to a variety of outputs, including PDF documents, web pages, blog articles, wikis, videos, and online help systems.
o Leverages a variety of information sources including: bug comments, whiteboard discussions, community forums, knowledge transfer, third-party website and original equipment manufacturer (OEM) content.
o Proposes product design and process improvements, coordinates, and executes content development and user experience plans.
o Applies knowledge of learning theory and instructional design to create learning materials for technical and non-technical roles. Formats include, but not limited to eLearning, (V)ILT, job aids, demos, videos, and manuals / user guides.
o Exerts sphere of influence cross-functionally, represents the organization on project teams, and assumes technical project leadership roles while fostering collaboration within and across work groups.
o Builds and manages successful cross-functional relationships and ability to manage stakeholder expectations to achieve deliverables and meet deadlines
o Helps to establish content strategy, content governance, and UX standards within and across work groups.
o Actively seeks customer input and takes responsibility for internal and external customer situations. Acts as a customer advocate.
o Creates content plans that include user stories. Evaluates technical content against UX benchmarks and user information requirements.
o Acts as a customer advocate in UI development activities and provides verbiage based on customer workflows and use cases.
o Technical writing skills and familiarity with technical content development, design, and UX strategies and methodologies
o Understanding of technical content authoring and UX workflows
o Knowledge of industry standards such as DITA, XML, and HTML
o Curriculum design/development skills and experience
o Experience with content authoring, publishing, and graphic design tools, including FrameMaker (advanced skills), Adobe Acrobat, Visio
o Experience with instructional design tools including Articulate Studio, Camtasia, Audacity
o Ability to analyze information and draw accurate conclusions
o Strong written and verbal communication skills
o Self-motivated
