Social Venture Partners Portland (SVP Portland) works to advance a community-focused goal through our general-operating grants, multi-year capacity-building partnerships, and collaboration with nonprofits and initiatives. This is amplified by systems change work through our advocacy and influence in early childhood and philanthropy. SVP has a growing portfolio of social impact organizations that span from preschool programs to advocacy collaboratives to community-driven initiatives. Each of these nonprofits is served by a team of volunteers who work with the nonprofit leadership to help build their organizational capacity to scale and achieve their mission.
SVP Portland is at an exciting point in our trajectory, given significant progress toward our goal of ensuring that all children have access to high-quality, culturally relevant early learning experiences. Multnomah County is experiencing tremendous momentum in expanding early learning opportunities. Through the county’s Preschool for All program, and other new public funding streams, many more families will soon be able to access affordable, high-quality programs for their young children. SVP and our nonprofit partners will play a critical role in making this a reality.
The Controller manages the financial systems and operational needs of the organization to ensure we have systems, processes, and reporting in place to achieve our strategic objectives. The Controller is accountable to and supported by the Executive Director, and also collaborates with other staff, volunteer Teams, and the Board of Directors. Success in this role is critical as our capacity for community impact depends upon having the resources needed and being an exemplary model of organizational effectiveness.
You will be an integral member of our five-member staff team that has a deep commitment to our mission of partnering with nonprofits who share in our early education goal. You will report to the Executive Director and collaborate not only with each team member, but also with around 50 engaged volunteers. You will also join our Equity Team to advance racial equity across all that we do at SVP Portland.
