Traditional HR roles are primarily focused on compliance, managing compensation/benefits, and mediating issues amongst the team. These things are important, and will play a part in this role…but the focus for this open position is very different.

We’re looking for a Director of People Ops and Culture that can focus primarily on empowering and equipping our team members (aka Finatics) to do the best work of their careers.

As Director of People Ops and Culture, you’ll be responsible for facilitating a culture that drives us toward our mission to produce every leader’s favorite show. As we pursue that mission as a team, you’ll be tasked with designing and implementing activities, communication, and measurement systems that reinforce Sweet Fish’s three core values (Love People Well, Never Stop Learning, and Own the Result). Our team will show up to work feeling empowered, engaged, appreciated, and understood because of the systems that you design and implement.

Sweet Fish aspires to be a career accelerator for audio storytellers, creatives, and strategists who are passionate about the medium of podcasting. The Director of People Ops and Culture will play a critical role in turning that aspiration into reality.

What you’ll do at Sweet Fish:

• Recruiting and Hiring: Execute, oversee, and continually improve all elements of our recruiting and hiring processes.

• Onboarding and Orientation: Facilitate the start of an exceptional experience for new team members.

• Performance Management: Foster a high performance culture by clarifying and communicating our core values, reinforcing positive behaviors, encouraging kind candor and open communication, empowering our team, and collecting feedback.

• Organizational Development: Map and continuously improve the journey and lifecycle for team members (interviewing, first day of work, orientation, training and development, team events, exit interviews, etc) to create an exceptional experience for our Finatics.

• Culture Development: Create a fun and fulfilling environment where our team pursues our mission and lives our values.

You need:

• Experience in a high-growth startup environment where constant change has been your companion; 5+ years of experience working as a People Partner, HR Manager, HR Program Manager or similar role.

• A strong desire to invest in people, and a commitment to workplace culture.

• Working knowledge of the critical components of a successful HR department including employment law, performance management, resolving conflict, having difficult conversations, employee engagement, training, maintaining employee files, and managing operational budgets.

• Ability to research and analyze problems at a senior level, providing feedback, guidance, and direction.

• Clear, strong verbal communication and consulting skills. Demonstrated ability to work at the senior leadership level.

• Well-developed writing and presentation skills. Able to communicate clearly across all levels of an organization.

• Discretion, sensitivity, and confidentiality. Demonstrated ability to listen, analyze and inform appropriately while maintaining the required sensibilities in handling confidential information.

• Experience hiring creative talent is a plus, but not required.

• SHRM or other HR certification preferred.

Pay: $112,644.00 – $136,298.00 per year
