The Procurement Specialist position requires someone who is data-driven, relationship-focused, and detail-oriented to manage all the company’s procurement needs effectively. This person should possess strong computer and organizational skills. This role will be responsible for planning, placing, securing favorable pricing and terms, monitoring timelines, scheduling shipment, and status reporting on all purchase orders. Responsible for bidding, ordering, tracking, and expediting material and equipment purchases for fiber telecommunications construction projects. They will act as a liaison between management, internal customers, and suppliers to meet or exceed expectations for quality, quantity, price, delivery, and innovation.
Duties:
Develop and maintain expertise on assigned products and services
Prepare and process purchase orders and requisitions for materials
Purchase technical/specialized equipment, bulk materials, and site consumables
Maintain and update material costs for all purchases
Maintain a strong understanding of the market conditions and trends
Serve as a point of contact between the company and suppliers and build and maintain vendor relationships
Establish vendor accountability by ensuring the vendor provides materials at the best cost, shortest lead times, and complete delivery time
Follow up with vendors for accurate tracking information and delivery dates to ensure lead times align with order requirements
Support all company projects to ensure accurate, timely, and quality delivery of goods
Ensure the timely resolution of issues with suppliers related to price, quality, delivery, and condition
Work with project a team in a fast-paced and high-volume environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness
Create, update, communicate and present procurement data and recommendations at meetings
Support annual and quarterly strategic planning activities
Requirements:
At least 3-5 years of relevant experience in the telecommunications industry
Strong understanding of procurement and negotiation techniques
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
High proficiency with MS Office suite including Excel, Word, and Outlook
Accepts extra duties as situations arise
Works efficiently and calmly when tight deadlines or other stress factors arise
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills
